Life Begins at One

There are instances when recollections are potent factors for discerning a sail on the horizon. Birth is one of them. The rudiments of a plan has produced some lovely sights and sounds enough to mark beautiful memories.

A few years ago I wished I had my own indie record label. Through constant feeding by peers and aficionados who believed and were inspired  by the music I create, I started to gain some knowledge and materials about  indie pop music, labels and communities all over the world (was stucked with The Beatles, The Smiths and a handful of more popular New Wave bands back in college where Internet wasn’t as accessible).  It was fascinating to finally discover a niche where I feel most comfortable and with an air of belongingness.

The Philippines is a breeding ground for absorbingly interesting talents quite diverse and at par with global counterparts but is in dire need of discovery and immersion in terms of artist development and producing especially with regards to the pop sound we cater to that oftentimes is quite difficult to describe to common Pinoy folks. The pop scene and culture of this kind is sparse and scattered like the thousands of islands in this country.

Hence, Lilystars Records is born.

What was once a wish has turned into a fervent goal to make things happen, to provide a home for myself and to every meaningful acts that needs one. For the outcasts and the minority. And for everyone hungry for good music.

Music is life. And life is what happens when you start a process of creation. And I feel like a father to a beautiful  young child. Happy Birthday Lilystars!
