The Bernadettes Stage A Comeback With “Worthless Beautiful”

After more than a decade of absence in the local music scene, The Bernadettes return with another fuzzy, garage rock anthem that helps steer the beer-chugging conversation into a riot fest. Their latest single “Worthless Beautiful” bounces all the way back to the late 2000s as it captures the sound of a rock record on full blast—bursting with exhilaration and recklessness, and bludgeoning one chord to another in an attempt to recreate in music form, the best days of our lives.

Taking off where their critically acclaimed single “Let’s Make Babies” left off, The Bernadettes’ new power pop jam waxes rhapsodic about the life under the old normal: drinking the night away with likeminded individuals, and not giving a single f*ck about the consequences that it may bring to the neighborhood. These things now serve as a figment of a distant memory, a rallying cry in our self-imposed quarantine, a gut-deep wallowing in self-pity, but with Paolo and Poch Angeles’ incisive take on the form, “Worthless Beautiful” sounds more like a distillation of nostalgia, joy, and helplessness, all rolled into a party that never was. It’s a pre-pandemic recollection, but also a bittersweet reminder, to those years that held infinite promise of eternal youth and fun—snotty punk rock and all.

“Worthless Beautiful” is now out on all digital platforms worldwide via Lilystars Records.
