Cineplexx

Cineplexx is the brainchild of singer-songwriter and producer Sebastián Litmanovitch. Born and raised in Argentina, the multi-talented world citizen spent his childhood listening obsessively to disco and funk on his parents’ car radio. Music and art are equally central in his life. A career in graphic design led him from Buenos Aires to New York City where he studied with Milton Glasser, to Barcelona and finally, London, where he lives, creates commercial art for energetic young start-ups and makes music.

Florianópolis is Cineplexx’s 11th full-length album available in the Philippines April 7. Different from his previous albums, it showcases for the first time the disco and latin rhythms of Litmanovitch’s childhood. This cocktail of sounds – disco, bossa, afrofunk, electrónica, pop – transports listeners to a magical island where they might find Ariel Pink dancing with Rita Lee to the sounds of Tom Jobim, Prince or Fela Kuti. In this particular album guest vocalists (Linda Mirada, Natalia Clavier (Thievery Corporation & Federico Aubele), Lilies On Mars and Ana Montiel) add a sensual and playful flavour to the sound with a little touch of Rafaella Carra or Chic.

His music work features collaborations with Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Jad Fair (Half Japanese), Duglas Stewart & BMX Bandits, Stealing Sheep, Nigel Baillie (Camera Obscura), Cathy Claret, Lilies on Mars, Ally Kerr, Federico Aubele, Natalia Clavier, Daniel Melero, Wechsel Garland, Montag, Lupe Nuñez (Pipas, Amor de Dias), Yushimi, to name just a few.
