South Pacific EP by Lomboy, Now Available in Philippine Stores

Lilystars Records is pleased to present the new EP South Pacific from Belgian-based electro-pop trio Lomboy, now available in digital stores in the Philippines. Named for the Philippine fruit, the trio came together in Brussels in 2014, united by a mutual love of 1960’s, 70’s and 80‘s European and American-inspired Asian movie soundtracks. Dreamy and languid, Lomboy’s songs are little audio oeuvres d’art: paintings for the ears, but translating hopes, dreams, and emotions on a deeper level.

Lomboy first released the single “In the Chamber of Vanu” with Lilystars Records in September of 2014, and returns in 2017 with a five-song EP, “South Pacific,” also available on Cracki Records in France and Botanical House in Japan. The new collection calls to mind a 60’s film soundtrack with lush organs, tribal rhythms, surf and slide guitars. Inspired by old records from Asia, the soundtracks of Martin Denny and Italian and French cinema music of the same era, Lomboy’s music is a more intimate version of these, inviting the listener to daydream of faraway adventures and places in the wild.

The EP’s first track “South Pacific,” calls to mind 60’s surfer pop and romantic movie soundtracks (but with a touch of space-age electronica) sending you back to a simpler time of sun and sand and relaxing waves of sound. “Dreams are all the Game” recalls an era of high school prom slow-dances complete with beehive hairdos and butt-bows. Serious theme with anthem-like keyboards setting the pace. Saxophone takes over. A bit of robotic electronic keyboard effects waver in and out to keep things modern. “Hello Hello” is purely psychedelic sixties meets science fiction. Finally “In the Chamber of Vanu” rounds out the collection with its love-scene movie soundtrack feel.
